Michael Slater Director (Cast)
Michael is returning to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe for his fifth year, having played Gordon Brown in the critically acclaimed TONY! The Blair Musical as well as performing in Jason Robert Brown's Songs for a New World. As one of the founding members of No Shoes Theatre and following on from last year's sell-out run, Michael is again directing The Improvised Musical. Theatre credits include The Full Monty (musical), West Side Story and numerous productions with the award winning Trent Opera, including Fiddler on the Roof and The King and I. Directorial credits include Guys and Dolls, Sweet Charity and I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change.
Gavin Whitworth Musical Director
Gavin is returning to Edinburgh in a performing capacity for the fourth consecutive summer. Previous shows at the Fringe include performing in TONY! The Blair Musical, musically directing Songs for a New World and An Improvised Musical, and playing with The Rat Pack Live. Gavin studied at the University of York, finishing with a BA in music and an MA in conducting. During his time there he was the musical director for several shows including Sweet Charity, The Full Monty and I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change. He also conducted the University of York Concert Band and the Sinfonietta, and played French horn in the University Symphony Orchestra. Gavin is now a freelance musician, working with bands and theatre groups in the south of England.
David Furey Producer
David is returning to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe for his fourth year. Previous shows at the Fringe include An Improvised Musical, The Shadow (Feast Theatre), Psalms (Odd Sock Productions) and Songs for a New World (Rubber Duck Theatre). Production credits include Sweet Charity, The Full Monty and I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change.
Rosie Ladkin Production Assistant
Rosie has just completed her second year of Musical Theatre at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. She was awarded a diploma in musical theatre from the London College of Music in 2008 and has been a vocal coach and musical director for Ivy Arts Theatre School for six years. She has been active in many amateur and professional theatre companies in her home town of Bristol. Performance experiences include Guys and Dolls, 42nd Street, Hello Dolly, Pirates of Penzance and Noises Off! Rosie played Reni in Reni and the Brownshirts, a BBC Radio 4 play, and has recently appeared on BBC's Tonight's the Night with John Barrowman.
Scott Gilmour Cast
Scott has just completed his second year of Musical Theatre at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama having previously studied Acting and Performance at Langside College and gained Grade 8 in Singing through Trinity Guildhall. He has been involved in amateur and professional theatre in Glasgow for many years and is a singing teacher and vocal coach. Performance experiences include principal roles in Rent, Fame, Aladdin, West Side Story, Unman, and Little Johnny’s Big Gay Wedding. Film and TV credits include Missing You and Doing It (BabyGrand Productions) and John Barrowman’s Tonight’s the Night (BBC Scotland). Scott also enjoys script writing and is currently working on a pilot episode for one of his TV scripts.
Ed Lewis-Smith Cast
Ed is delighted to be returning to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with No Shoes Theatre. Previous musical theatre experience includes I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change, the title role in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Rent, Sweet Charity, The Rocky Horror Show, Grease, Guys and Dolls and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Plays include lead roles in Rope, The Government Inspector, Therese Raquin and The Changeling, as well as various student pantomimes. Ed is also a songwriter and pianist.
Oliver Tilney Cast
After playing the title role in Francis, a film shot in Italy, Oliver studied film acting at the New York Film Academy and became a member of The National Youth Theatre. He recently graduated in English Literature with Linguistics from the University of York. There Oliver played Dave in The Full Monty (musical), Roger in Rent and roles in Woman of Troy, Volpone, and A Clockwork Orange. Having acted at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2008 with Belt Up Theatre, Oliver is excited about the huge challenge of The Improvised Musical. He hopes to use the experience as part of his preparation for the two year FDA in Acting at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School that he begins this autumn.
Nic Lamont Cast
Nic trained in Music Theatre at the Central School of Speech and Drama and with the Clerkenwell Actor's Studio. Previous theatre work includes The Tartuffe (C Venues/York Theatre Royal), The Tempest (RSC Gardens), The White Devil (Blue Elephant Theatre), CAS Mini Play Fest (Hen & Chickens Theatre), Into the Woods (Embassy Theatre, London) and I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change (Drama Barn, York). She returns to No Shoes having performed in the 2009 An Improvised Musical (C Venues) and has also performed with improv troupe The Invention Cycle (Landor Theatre). Television/film appearances include Lee Nelson’s Well Good Show and Richard Curtis's 10:10 Campaign Short. In her spare time she enjoys burlesque dancing and gardening.
Neil Arden Improvised Tech
Neil is a veteran of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and as a founding member of Sputnik Productions has provided technical support for numerous Fringe shows, including the Perrier nominated Epitaph. More recently he has worked on the critically acclaimed TONY! The Blair Musical and Tony of Arabia.
